How It All Started

It all began with weekend trips to Blue Creek Quarry Pond, a beautiful spot right here in our area where my family and I would go fishing. We loved those trips, but the mosquitoes and ticks? Not so much. Store-bought bug spray didn’t work, smelled awful, and left us feeling sticky. So, I turned to what I already knew—essential oils. After researching which oils were best for repelling ticks and mosquitoes, I made my own bug spray.

The first time we used it, my kids and I walked away bite-free while my boyfriend (who skipped using it) found ticks crawling on him. The next time, he gave it a try—and was amazed. It smelled great, felt light on the skin, and most importantly, it worked. That moment sparked something in me. I realized I could create natural products that weren’t just alternatives to mass-produced ones—they were better.

A Business with Heart

The name Poppy & Co. Botanicals is deeply personal. My kids called my dad “Poppy,” and he was the most incredible father. When he passed away, I wanted to honor him in a way that felt meaningful. This business carries his name because it carries the love, care, and dedication that he always showed me.

More Than Just Products
